Advantages: Covers all the basics

Disadvantages: limited recipies

This is a basic cookbook & deserves it's place in any kitchen. These days most of us buy things ready made & the art of basic cookery has gone out of the window. Times change & so do cooking habits.

I learnt to cook from my mother & at school but over the years the advent of many ready prepared dishes at the supermarket & lack of time due to work commitments means I rarely "cook", it then becomes necessary to own a basic cookbook. Forgetting the quantities or ratio's for lets say batter send me straight to this book.

All the basic recipes are covered like cakes, batters, sauces as well as timings for different meats along with oven temperatures. Meat from a butcher does not come with instructions! Vegetables are covered as well.

There are good conversion tables for oven temperatures as well as imperial/metric, how many of us can visualise grams?

There are fancier dishes included as well as many traditional puddings YUMMY.

This is not for gourmet cooks, but serves a very useful purpose.
