Advantages: Easy to read
Disadvantages: None
This is the one cook book that every one should own. Its a kitchen must have. My Mum had this cook book as i was growing up and it was a favourite in the kitchen. My mums copy is well used and it shows. When i was old enough my mum bought me and my sister a copy of The Dairy Book of Home Cookery each.
The contents are great and broken down into easy to follow blocks.
Firstly it starts with useful information. Theres weights and measures for cooks, notes on recipes, using a microwave oven, dairy products such as milk, all the different cheeses and how to store them. It shows you how to choose the best cuts of beef, lamb, pork and has a guide to fish and shellfish. Theres also a section on food safety. Great for beginners and experts. The recipes are broke down into the following sections:
Soups and Starters
Main meals
Fish
Shellfish
Beef
Lamb
Pork
Offal
Chicken
Turkey
Game
Vegetarian
Meals for 1 & 2
Rice and Pasta
Accompanying Vegetables & Salads
Eggs and Egg Recipes
Light Meals and Snacks
Sauces, Stuffings, Marinades
Puddings and Desserts
Home baking
Preserves, Confectionery, Drinks
Its great for single people, families and anyone else who loves to cook.
The recipes are straight forward and easy to read. Theres not all the fancy stuff like in some of the other cook books out there. The ingredients are the kind you would already find in your cupboard. The recipes are quick cheap and fun to make.
This is one cookbook i wouldnt be without and i always refer back to it. Its great for the basics, like how to boil an egg, how to cook pasta, how to make fairy cakes and many more.
I would definitely recommend this book
Summary: Its a great book for all
