Advantages: Easy to navigate around, cheap
Disadvantages: notwidely avaliable, only from milkman
For me this is an obvious choice to write a review on. Growing up there was always a Dairy Diary in my house, and I think for the 21 years I have been alive my mum still has every copy. Many of you will not even know these exist which is such a shame as they are simply the best diary around.
You may well ask yourself exactly how you can write a review of at least 150 words on a diary but this isn't any ordinary diary. As a child not only was I brought up living by the dates planned according to the diary diary I was also brought up on the hundreds of different recipes which change weekly. Each one just as delicious as the next. The step by step guide gives you simple and cheap recipes for all ocassions and for all the family. The recipes change according to the dates in the year. For instance you may get a recipe for christmas pudding at christmas time orpumpkin soup at haloween and this is really useful.
My mum always kept the diary on the window ledge and actually still does, each week laid out on the double pages with a recipe on the bottom. There is loads of space to write your dates and appointments and notes etc. There is also a page keeper so you can keep the diary open on the week you want it. There is also a year planner at the front.
Not only does this Diary come with a really clear cut simple layout with special uk dates already maked out but it also comes with all sorts of useful information. At the front of the dairy diary you can find weight and height conversions, first aid information, moon patterns and seasons information, food packaging symbols, washing symbols, stain removal tips, travel tips, clothing sizes, home budgeting system, information for cooks including oven temperatures, liquid conversions and dry weight conversions, decorative tips, london tube map and loads loads loads more (too much to list) If there is anything I don't know that I need to know I just look in my dairy diary, chances are it will be there.
This wonderful diary is avaliable from your milkman or can be purchased online. It has been going now for 25 years and has grown and grown. Looking back at my mums old ones it has improved every time and now this is Britains best selling hard back diary. At only £5.99 aswell it is a bargain and although it is too big to fit in your hand bag a mini version can also be purchased and an address book if you like to match.
I hope you will order one of these from your milkman but I would suggest wating until 2010 so you get your full moneys worth. Once you have one though you won't be without it and I dont think I like it just because it is what I am used to. I just find it so easy to use and to navigate around and for this reason I would never choose anything else. This diary goes everywhere with me.
Summary: Worth getting a milkman for

- 21/07/09 Dairy Diary can also be ordered online at www.dairydiary.co.uk or by phone on 0845 0948 128. I order mine every year online! They do a great giftpack which makes a fantastic gift at Christmas for my mum! Last year I also bought the Dairy Diary cookbook called Clever Cooking for One or Two and would recommend this to anyone, I cant wait for the new one this year! |
