Premium Review Dance of the Dinosaurs - Colin Hawkins: Stomping Around In A Storm (733 words)

Rating:

***Background*** Colin and Jacqui Hawkins share the responsibility or writing and illustrating this rhyming book and this is a partnership that has worked extremely well in the past with many books that will encourage young children to read. ***The Story*** The book starts with a picture of a boy and girl in their beds while a storm rages outside. "Lightning flashed on a wild, stormy night And Georgie and Dee shivered in fright. 'Come on,' said Cat. 'Don't be afraid! I'll show you both how a storm is made.'" The children follow the cat down the stairs and outside into the woods where they ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Firm Favourite (384 words)

I have to agree with the other reviewer who's given this five shiny stars. This is one of the best kids books I've read this year. It cost the Mrs £1 from the local Poundstretcher would you believe?! The RRP is actually £5.99 though you can get it cheaper some places. It's £4.99 from Play.com at the minute or you might be lucky enough to find it in your local Poundstretcher too. This is a nice big book that's about A4 size in landscape format. It's a great book for sharing with a kid at bedtime as they can see it all clearly while they're laying down in their bed. The pictures fill up every page and are really good quality too. This isn't as detailed as ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dance of the Dinosaurs - Colin Hawkins: This is How A Storm Is Made (1027 words)

This was bought for my daughter on her 2nd birthday, it is aimed at 4-8 year olds, but she does enjoy her books so I will let that pass! The version we have is glossy cardboard backed and about the size of an A4 sheet. The cover is nice and bright with some kids & their cat riding in a hot air balloon whilst looking down at some crazy dinosaurs. I'll first explain the story: It's all about how a storm is made. It starts off with a brother and sister (Georgie & Dee) in bed while a storm is raging outside, and they are pretty scared. So their amazing talking pet cat takes them off to show them how the storm is ...  Read the complete review
