looking for information about her and slowly a picture of a shattered life come together. Rachel has left her children her extraordinary gift, as well as her demons. Patrick Gale was previously unknown to me. However reading the back of the book it was clear that it was something special. The list of newspapers and critics commenting on the book was unbelievable, "Complete Perfection, Rich and inventive" just a few words describing the novel. At the beginning of each chapter is a little caption that goes with a piece from an exhibition from Rachel Kelly s life. These little titbit s provide lots of information as the reader pieces together the information. ...

I love Cornwall and I love Patrick Gales books! I had only read one of Patrick Gales books (Notes from an Exhibition) and I loved it, so I went out and bought Rough Music. The book had a lot to live up to and I wasnt dissapointed. This is a great book by Patrick Gale and I intend to read more of his novels as I havent been dissapointed yet. The book is a well written novel covering three generations of a family. As with his previous book, a lot of characters are introduced early on and so its quite difficult to grasp it, but when I did I couldnt put it down.
