Ed Brubaker took on the task of writing Daredevil straight after one of the most acclaimed runs in the titles (and maybe Marvel's) history; that is Bendis and Maleev's epic run (which is being released in Omnibus edition later this year. Now, I haven't read Bendis' Darevil yet so it is somewhat difficult to make a comparison between the two, but the general consensus seems to be that brubaker does a pretty stunning job in this, collected edition of the first 6 issues of that run.
