Advantages: Compelling story and hilarious dark humour. Originality too.

Firstly I should start by saying that I just never read fiction - but Jeff Lindsay has changed all that! I was familiar with the TV series 'Dexter' and this book is what the first season is loosely based on. The storyline zips along and draws you right in. This is the kind of book that you could start in the morning and just keep on reading 'till it's all done! It really is such a compelling read. Lindsay keeps the reader on the edge of their seat and manages to creat real tension and excitement. However. perhaps the best part of the book is Dexter and his fabulous sardonic commentary. There are times when you really want to laugh at loud at his warped observations. His own particular sense of what's right and wrong has to be read to be believed. Not a book for somebody who lacks an even slightly dark sense of humour but if you have you will not regret buying this book.
