The Halo Effect - M.J. Rose
A good idea
Concentrates too much on sex and romance and not enough on the crime story
Winter in Madrid - C.J. Sansom
Gripping plot, interesting period of history (to me)
Poor characterisation, repetitive writing, assumes in depth knowledge of period
