I've always been quite a big fan of the BBC comedy television programme , The Vicar Of Dibley , and my favourite character was always Geraldine , the vicar. I thought Dawn French played the part so well , and since then I have always looked out for other programmes. I happened to hear that she had an autobiography out when I was flicking through a ... The concept behind this Autobiography from the wonderful Dawn French is unique in the way it is written. Dawn French has written this book by way of letter to her nearest and dearest. The 'Dear Fatty' being comedy 'sidekick' Jennifer Saunders. A large amount of her letters are written to her Father, who killed himself when Dawn was ... Read the complete review

I am an avid reader and like to think I would give any book a try, however autobiographies are something that have never interested me. When 'Dear Fatty' was first published I barely noticed it. Recently I went shopping for a book for my holiday; I was sick of reading depressing gripping reality based novels and decided to go for something. ... Read the complete review

I've been a big fan of French and Saunders for years, when this book came out it was on my Christmas list straightaway. "Dear Fatty" is Dawn French's autobiography, however it is a little different to the usual autobiography formats, as each chapter is like a letter from her to someone else e.g. a friend, family member or celebrity. ... I saw this book last Christmas and thought "I must read that" but forgot to get it until I saw it on offer in the supermarket. Obviously the first thing you do is pick it up and go to the pictures when reading an autobiography! They do not disappoint in this book. One is of her in a bikini when she is about 16 and she looks ... Read the complete review

"Dear Fatty" is the autobiography of comedian Dawn French. It is unlike other autobiographies as it is written as a number of letters to various people whom helped make her what she is today. Such people include her close family (father, mother, brother, daughter and husband), extended family (grandparents, uncles etc.), friends (both ... Read the complete review

This is a brilliant read! It is filled with exerpts from Dawn French's life, many of which she writes in a funny way! I have found this a good book to read when I am feeling down in the dumps, partly because it always bring a laugh, but also because it is an insight into the life of such an outwardly confident and successful woman. Dawn ... Read the complete review

To be quite honest, I did not receive 'Dear Fatty' as a present but rather bought it as a gift for my mum for Christmas. As it sat on the pile of books she is 'going to get round to' for a month or more, I decided to borrow it and save it from collecting dust. I have always loved Dawn French, I have memories of watching her ... Read the complete review

I was given a late birthday present last month, and I was not so much shocked by how late it was, but more so what the gift itself was. One of my closest friends has bought me 'Dear Fatty', the autobiography of Dawn French. I cannot lie, I was delighted by this as it was something my eye had been on for months. Though I was surprised as I never ... Read the complete review

This is a book that I had quite fancied reading, but was not top of my wish list in these credit crunch times. However having managed to purchase it for the bargain price of £4 I gave in to temptation. I had seen Dawn speaking about this book and the fact that she had chosen to write her autobiography in the style of letters to family ... Read the complete review

This is a book which I had been waiting to be released as I had read a biography written about Dawn but I really wanted to read about her life in her own words. I have had this book for some time but due to getting into the Harry Potter books I didn't get around to reading it until last week. Dawn has written a book of memoirs and not ... I have been dying to read this book since it hit the shelves but it hasn't been until now that I have actually picked it up due to a busy family life. Although I find Dawn French very funny I have a few more reasons as to why I was desperate to read. Firstly my Aunty is one of Dawn's, Grandma's very good friends. They have grown up together and ... Received this for Christmas and started reading it straight away. I have always liked Dawn French - I think French and Saunders are the funniest commedians we have in the UK. Dawn French is one of Britain's best loved comediennes. She is best known for her roles in The Vicar of Dibley and being one half of double act French and Saunders. People also love her for her ample figure and being a role model to bigger women, her marriage to Lenny Henry and adoption of daughter Billie. As somebody who claims to hate the cult ... I was blown away by this book because it echoed so much in my on upbringing to having hepatitis a and a morris minor for a first car plus all the places Dawn went and did throughout her upbringing. i live in New Zealand now and have lost my husband who was shot in a hunting accident. We always loved all the progs by Lenny and Dawn. Reading the book has brought up alot of memories for me - they were very funny and sad at the same time. I haven't finished it yet but am in some kind of revellry because i don't want it to end. am also a teacher, on s hool, hols and reading myself silly. I would recommend anyone to read that book, especially if you were born in the 50s!!!!

I got this book as a present for Christmas as I have always been a big fan of Dawn French and the Vicar of Dibley and I loved it. This is a beautiful book by a beautiful person.
