Advantages: Still brilliant! Some fab double-paged pieces of artwork and a nail-biting finish!

Disadvantages: The suspense is killing me! Lol!

This review is about volume 6 of the Death Note series published by Viz Media and part of the Shonen Jump Advanced books.
The story is by Tsugumi Ohba and the art is by Takeshi Obata.
Death Note is rated for older teens.

The book is in the classic right-to-left style of most popular Japanese manga and all the artwork is in black and white with caption or speech bubbles.

"THE HUMAN WHOSE NAME IS WRITTEN IN THIS DEATH NOTE SHALL DIE!"

WARNING! If you've not read the previous volumes of Death Note then this review may contain spoilers. And it might not make much sense! Go and check out my previous reviews and read the first five volumes!

Volume six is subtitled 'Give-and-Take' and has a pinky-grey cover Light standing in a God-like pose with Ryuk and Rem behind him (I wonder if they do art prints of the book covers? If not, they should!)

This volume has the usual story recap at the beginning plus a much longer list of characters as we now have pictures of the Yotsuba group members. It also contains the occasional page of Death Note rules at the end of some chapters.

We're now halfway through the series and the plot is still as tangled and complicated as ever. Even though there are even more characters (with the Yotsuba members) I found I didn't get confused as they all look very different.

L and Light are still chained together and working on the case together; and they're still fighting too! L still thinks Light could be Kira and Light still hasn't regained his memory of the Death Note. Will he ever?

In this volume we find out who the newest Kira is and it has a nail-biting ending with a high-speed car chase!

The artwork is at the usual high standard and there's a couple of brilliant double-paged spreads at the beginning of chapters 49 and 52.

As usual, there's plot twists, suspense and even humour. For a series to keep me this entertained and this hooked, it HAS to be good.

The blurb says:
"Light Yagami is an ace student with great prospects - and he's bored out of his mind. But all that changes when he finds the Death Note, a notebook dropped by a rogue Shinigami death god. Any human whose name is written in the notebook dies, and now Light has vowed to use the power of the Death Note to rid the world of evil. But when criminals begin dropping dead, the authorities send the legendary detective L to track down the killer. With L hot on his heels, will Light lose sight of his noble goal...or his life?

-Give-and-Take-
Although they've collected plenty of evidence tying the seven Yotsuba members to the newest Kira, Light, L and the rest of the taskforce are no closer to discovering which one actually possesses the Death Note. Desperate for some headway, L recruits Misa to infiltrate the group and feed them information calculated to bring Kira into the open. But the Shinigami Rem reveals to Misa who the Kiras really are, and, armed with this knowledge, Misa will do anything to help Light. But what will that mean for L...?"

Summary: For a series to keep me this entertained and this hooked, it HAS to be good.
