Premium Review TOM AGAINST THE JAPS  (471 words)
by - written on 26/06/02 (Very useful, 109 readings)
Rating:

I began to read Tom Clancy because of the Hunt of the Red October: I loved the book and I loved the movie. I can pass over his political ideas (The american are always right, the english are somewhat mainly right but less and less right since Margaret Thatcher is not ruling, the others can be wrong or bad depending on if they agree with americans and/or Margaret Thatcher or not, and the rest is the axis of evil), so I usually buy a Tom Clancy book whenever I'm facing a long flight, mainly because they are very thick. Premium Review Debt of Honour - Tom Clancy: Is there no stopping Jack Ryan? (251 words)
by - written on 09/12/00 (Useful, 77 readings)

“Debt of Honour” is a key chapter in the fictional life of Jack Ryan as it reveals how, in the space of one novel, Ryan goes from a Wall Street Stockbroker to National Security Advisor to saviour of the United States to President without even pausing for breath. The first is that, aside from the flawed characters of ‘baddies’, is how all of the key players on Ryan’s side, as it ...  Read the complete review

Jack's Back! (169 words)
by - written on 23/06/00
Rating:

The Jack Ryan saga continues! You thought he finished his career by averting a nuclear war in "Sum of All Fears" didn't you? But President Durling convinces him to come back, and not a moment too soon. It seems trouble follows Jack wherever he goes. "Debt of Honour" is an action packed thrill ride that will grab you right from the start and keep holding onto you at the end when you expect a resolution to the conflict, but one doesn't come. To me, an avid fan of "Red Storm Rising", I yearned for another bonanza of military technology with things blowing up and cutting edge weapons. DOH delivered the best battle scenes since ...  Read the complete review
