Premium Review The Secrets of Arabesk (1403 words)

OK, I'm going to have to confess. I did not pick this book out because I knew all about the author or had read previous books, saw a review and was intrigued or any other interesting reason. I read it because it was yet another from a random box set I had bought. The only thing I may say is that I picked it before others in the set because it had prettier cover. Bad start? I guess. Story I had a peek at someone else's review of this book before I started writing my own and only then did I realise it is part of a detective series (shows how much I know!). A Passion for Killing - Barbara Nadel

Premium Review Turkish delight or horror? (603 words)

to solve the two cases without upsetting either their police superiors or the diplomats involved. I adore crime fiction that is set in other countries and having heard that Barbara Nadel had written a series of books based in Turkey, I was delighted to get hold of a copy. This particular book is the latest in the series, having been published just this year, and has won the CWA Silver Dagger Award. Although the series is called the Inspector Ikmen series, Inspector Suleyman plays an equal part in this book. He is a detective with many years experience and is upset that, for the purposes of the cases in this book, he has to rely on a colleague from the secret service ...
