I became a fan of Kathy Reichs some time ago when I picked up what seemed like a good thriller. I must admit that I do love these kind of books and particularly those with women detectives, or, as in many cases, female pathologists. I was reading Agatha Christie novels as soon as I was old enough to get them from the library and I've been interested in this genre ever since. I did read some reviews as well as a member of Ciao, some years back, and often read a book on the strength of a review. So you see, those reviews do tempt people to buy the books. I think I started out with Deadly Decisions, but since I own quite a few of her books I couldn't say for sure which one ... Read the complete review

Ciao and Dooyoo are sites whose main purpose is to advise potential consumers as to which products are worth buying. I have heard several people declare they have never bought anything as a response to reading reviews here! Well, I regularly do. A well written review will often inspire me to log in to Ebay or Amazon and buy the DVD, CD, book or whatever. This is how I came to buy this book – Deja Dead by Kathy Reichs. I used to be a classics and chick lit kinda gal until a few years ago. Then another Dooyoo/Ciao member got me into reading Martina Cole’s novels – a completely different direction and one which I approached cautiously and with ... Read the complete review

This is another book which, if I had not been a member of a book club, I don’t think I would have bought at all. The only blurb on the back cover of the book is solely a quote from the book, but a good one nonetheless. No recommendations, no highlighted reviews and fairly dull front cover artwork. It was hardly eye catching, but for a glimpse of what enticed me to buy it here's the blurb from the back of the book .... “The next day began as warm and sunny as its predecessor, a fact that would normally draw me into high spirits. But that day the weather would be irrelevant. By 9 a.m. I was already in autopsy room 4, the smallest of the suites at ... Read the complete review

My sister recommended a Kathy Reichs book to me and despite being skeptical at first, i started to read and forgot to stop until i'd finished the entire book! This is one book you won't want to put down. ~~The Plot~~ Dr Temperance Brennan (Tempe) is a forensic anthropologist, as is the author, and her knowledge and skill mean she is called to many different crime scenes and many cases to investigate. Her first case begins very quickly, a woman's bones are discovered and the remains are transported to her lab in an effort to discover how the woman died and any clues she can give the police to help them solve the crime. The body had been meticulously ... Read the complete review

Having recently devoured Karin Slaughter's back catalogue,I picked this up in an omnibus edition also featuring the sequel death du jour, in a bid to discover a worthy successor to Patrica Cornwell of whom I have been very disappointed of late. Upon first publication I seem to recall this being marketed as "as good as Patrica Cornwell or your money back" which I always felt a bit dubious about and understandably sceptical.I can honestly say that this statement has proved to be true and I have last found an author other than Slaughter who may be able to challenge Cornwell at last for her throne. Dr.Temperance Brennan works in Quebec as a ... Read the complete review
