I have always found it very difficult to stick to diets and have always been overweight :(. I have a terrible sweet tooth and am addicted to cheese, which I'm sure you agree are two things usually frowned upon by slimmers! I was having trouble sleeping and drinking lots of strong coffee to keep me going through the day. I just generally felt miserable and was feeling depressed. A friend of mine had just completed a detox and said she felt great so I thought I'd give it a try. I looked on Amazon and bought this book ( I must confess it was only because it was the cheapest at the time!). I read the whole thing and though 'there's no way in hell I can do that!' but I ... Suddenly it is fasionable to detox. Carole Vorerman is selling videos telling you how. This is the original and best detox programme, it is not a diet, it is not designed to help you lose weight. It is extremely tough, severe even. It is billed as a treat, ever re-affirming that you are giving yourself this month of 'hell' as a gift. For all it's tough-love, this program 'DOES' work,. After a month without alchol, living off of pure foods such as vegatables, fruit, brown rice, and seeds, I felt energised and clean. The beetroot juice turned my wee and poo pink, but this was actually quite a nice side ... Read the complete review

The review, 'The Woman is a Sadist', is absolutely nothing to do with this book. I have this book and have followed the detox many times. There are so many inaccuracies in the previous review that I can not see how this person is relating it to this book. What is outlined as the 3 day detox in the review, is not even in this book! I agree that it is hard work to get thorugh the 30 days, however, it is all about timing and being organised. You CAN eat fish, You CAN eat Non-diary (e.g. goats or sheeps yoghurt, milk or cheese such as chevre, real Feta, Roquefort and soy or rice milk), you CAN eat potatoes, you CAN eat rice. Basically the food reccomended on the ... Read the complete review

I think this is such an amazing journey. I love her sound advice and even though it was written some 10 years ago, the principles still hold true and it is possible for this to become a way of life. Personally, I would ditch the potatoes for quinoa, but other than that, it is a wonderful book. Don't put it off any longer! Be loving to yourself and buy this book. Because you're worth ...
