Neal Stephenson's neo-Victorian oddity, notable chiefly for a stylised, unusually smoothly forced cast of changing societies and one of the best realised and most workable nanotech economies in any SF novel. The time is some period in the 21st century; disgruntled with the almost total moral collapse of the society of the day, a small group of skilled professionals hive themselves off into an essentially Neo- Victorian subculture. The Diamon Age by Neal Stephenson is one of the best books that I have ever read. It is set in the future when nanotechnology is utilised in everyday life. The story focuses on a one-off interactive childrens book, which evolves as the child grows up, and the children which have this book. The writing is clear and imaginative and really draws you into the world which has been created. This is a great science fiction book that focuses on how technology can help people, which makes a nice change. ... Read the complete review
