A Contemporary Man (Diaries - Alan Clark)
Member Name: Nick Shone
Advantages: Short, succint and pithy, maybe not for maiden Aunts Disadvantages: Too many entries missing! A fascinating insight into Government from an independant spirit who only towed his own party line. Candid, indiscreet and salacious with his opinions not restricted to his own colleagues and opposition. Here is a man driven, by his own demons, to record passages of life that can be amusing, serious, deprecating or brutal, sometimes all these, but he is always alarmingly honest and candid. He thrusts his opinions off the page and into your mind, often showing a character never revealed to the contemporary press or public. Coercive reading!
