Like Melissa, the story’s heroine, I was an au pair in a foreign country. Ok, I was 10 years younger than her 27 when I went, and I language difficulties to contest with, but a lot of our experiences were the same (although no one died during my stay thank goodness, but I got a wedding too, even if it was not my own) . Firstly, some background. I ordered this book off the internet in May and started reading it on the plane over here. I’m now re-reading it and enjoying it just as much the second time. Part of the preface describes the book as “full of linguistic delights” which is so true. It’s a great book to read for the way in ...
