The original and the best... of a bad bunch (Digital Fortress - Dan Brown)
Advantages: Chronologically it's all new Disadvantages: I think Dan Brown has some sort of program that churns out generic plots To say this is Dan Brown's best book is now understatement. But since he has actually made a career out of more or less writing the same book four times (five when the Solomon Key finally makes an appearance, I am sure) then it is pretty obvious that the original will be the best. Basic premise of a Dan Brown book is this: a male lead and a female lead (already designed for potential box office success) are put into a position relatively quickly where they are almost fish out of water - not quite though because they need their resourcefulness to solve clues that are like something potentially out of a Resident Evil game. With that in mind we get the added bonus that it has to be some sort of race against time. Then they get the first clue. And they are on their way to point B. And then it won't be long until point C... ad nauseum. The minor difference in this volume is that the male and female lead aren't together in the traditional way they are in subsequent books. I did thoroughly enjoy this book until I read all his others and saw the obvious repitition. An enjoyable airport read. Summary: Only read if you haven't read any of this other books |
