Advantages: Great illustrations and text

Disadvantages: My only criticism is the inclusion of the word 'meek', a hard one for a 3 year old!

We got this book free as part of a Bookstart pack. It's a fantastic book. On each page, you will find a pair of dinosaurs with opposite qualities, so there might be sweet and grumpy, weak and strong, fast and slow and so on. The dinosaurs are illustrated accordingly - the strong dinosaur is lifting a boulder for example. It's great for talking about opposites and descriptive words. What's more, the text rhymes throughout the book which I think is great as it holds a child's attention, and helps them to remember the story. The text is quite large as well, so it's good for children learning to read.

What I love about this book, is that although the illustrations are cartoons, they dinosaurs have spikes, lumps, scales and tails so it's quite good for talking about the different kind of dinosaurs and why they have the attributes they do. It also shows some dinosaurs eating bones and others eating leaves, which has led into many discussions in our house about carnivores and herbivores! The illustrations are bright, eye catching and humorous.

All in all, a great book. Nice and short but with plenty to talk about.
