Advantages: Perfect Size for little hands, nice story
Disadvantages: Lack of background, spine broke easily
My little girl is 18 months old and loves to sit and read books, pointing to everything cute on her way. This book is perfect for her in some ways but it is a slight let down.
The book is based on the ever popular Winnie The Pooh series and includes pictures of all of the gang - I've found it's actually quite rare to find a book that still includes Christopher Robin in. Piglet, Tigger, Eeyore, Roo, Owl and Rabbit also feature throughout and my little girl loves pointing to each one and saying their names.
The story basically follows different activities you can do inside and outside your house. They use playing with Pooh as the prime example of what you could be doing during the day. They start with playing chase and immediately move onto painting and drawing. They then move onto an outdoor activity of playing with the ball and taking a ride down a stream on a log and dancing at the end about how much fun they've had during the day.
This book is perfect for showing kids what they can be doing and giving a parent ideas about what they can do. However, I do think the idea of riding down a stream on a log is a bit outdated and it's to be hoped children don't try to copy it. (Yes I'm being boring, but also realistic).
The pictures are all well done but I could complain a little in that there aren't really any background objects for my little one to point at and learn from and she does tend to get a little bit bored after reading it once.
It is a board book and whilst it doesn't rip easily, the spine came off of our one really quickly and the pages fell apart leaving us to glue it all back together. It's fine now, but when it is intended for little ones you would think they could have made it a bit stronger.
Overall, I would recommend this book to others as it is a classic Winnie The Pooh book for kids but we warned about the spine breaking and the lack of background in the pictures.
It's selling for £2.99 on Amazon at the moment but we picked it up from the Works on a 5 books for £5 offer. Definitely value for money.
