Advantages: A really immersing and fantastic book.
Disadvantages: You would have to start from the beggining of the series.
After coming to terms with being a goddess of Partholon (a mystical place in mythology, and a beloved of goddess Epona),instead of a teacher in Okalahoma Tulsa, Shannon, or as her many worshippers call her Rhiannon (with whom she swapped bodies with when Rhiannon, the evil one, cast a spell to release her from her duties in the mystic world), Shannon is really starting to enjoy her life!
She is adored by everyone, waited on hand and foot and more than happily married to the high shaman of the centaurs Clanfintan, who is also a centaur (though can change into a human form for sex, god bless these books! Lol!).
After Clanfintan is away on a trip to secure the land after the battle ended (divine by mistake, the previous book!), Shannon starts to feel really ill, she seems to be vomiting constantly, and is excessively hormonal (I wonder what that could be!), with her feeling so down about it she start to imagine that she is seeing things, shadows watching her, this is surely just her imagination due to her illness....isn't it?
I enjoyed the first book, though did find it took a while to get into it due to the completely different world she is taken from and placed into, a feat that was beautifully written about as you felt her disbelief at her surroundings as much as you felt when reading it.
This time you feel resigned to the fact that she has gone from teacher, with a low paid job, to the beloved of a goddess, and married to a hunky, if somewhat equine type stud, with me actually feeling jealousy at times (surely even newly weds don't bonk as much and frantically as these two seem to!).
The events of the book is almost a compete polar opposite of what the first book was about, with there being body swapping involved, and you get to see how the original and evil Rhiannon must have felt when first thrust into the modern world, though when her evil deeds start to put not only Shannon's life, but also a new character called Clint in danger, it does make for a really exciting and at times heart breaking read.
I felt completely immersed within the storyline from the first page, and positively raced through the book, determined that I got to the end and ended up with the finish I so hoped for (which I did, but not quite as I would have hoped, though there is another book in the series, possibly more!).
The entire book is told from Shannon's point, and so allows little room for veering from her storyline, I perhaps would have liked to know what other characters were feeling during the storyline, but the author did try to accommodate that by what the character deems as her "magic sleep" where upon her character can visit others through her dreams.
This book really was a fantastic read, though is again a book that you would have to read from the start of the series to understand what the heck is actually happening, but for the quality of his book, I would thoroughly recommend you read this series.
Price wise this has a RRP of £6.99, but can quit possibly be purchased for less from www.amazon.co.uk
Thanks for reading x
