This is one of several books written by Dick towards the end of his career as he struggled to make sense of a number of his own life experiences, particularly those of March 1974. Dick was an amazingly intelligent and extremely troubled man. In 1974 he had the experience of some outside intelligence beaming information into his head via a beam of pink light. This included images of a million artworks, unverifiable stuff about Soviet security, and the vital information that his son Christopher needed an operation.
