Unusually for a toddler book this one is not illustrated in the traditional sense of the word, instead its painted in huge swirls, sweeps and swooshes of riotous colour. Theres very little detail in the pictures themselves but the textures of the paints leap off the page adding an extra special dimension to the tale. The artist clearly had lots and lots of fun and you'll have just as much fun reading it. Watch out for the cleverly hidden items which blend into the paint a little bit like a Magic Eye illustration. Dog’s Day is a lovely children’s book written by Jane Cabrera aimed at the under 3s. The author Jane Cabrera has written many children’s books and they are characterised by their bright colourful pictures. She specialises in books for the younger child. She writes and illustrates her books herself, having originally been a book designer before she became a successful children’s writer.
