Advantages: Adrenaline pumping, very english, unpredictable.

Disadvantages: If your scared of rats, this is probably not for you.

This is probably one of the best books i've ever read.
Its starts out with the events of various members of the public, of all types , dealing with impending nuclear attack. From prostitutes silently waiting, to coppers battling to control the crowds youll find yourself completely wrapped up in their individual struggles untill, for some of the unlucky ones, thats where their story ends.
This unpredictability is a part of the storytelling that continues right the way through the book, always leaving you guessing as to whether the main characters, will infact fail in trying or manage to reach safety.
I imagine it encapsulates the fear and panic that would be ripping through London as the bombs fall brilliantly, and really got me thinking with some of the ways in which people accept their fate.
Then your left with the survivors.... and the rats. The book always moves at a fast pace, and has the feel of a action movie for the most part, but a good one at that. The destroyed London he describes creates an atmosphere to the whole thing that, you will enjoy more i think, if you like apocalyptic type movies. I think less given away though is better as it should be a film. It really is a masterpiece.

Summary: Nuclear war destroys London, and the survivors face a new terror.
