To read twice a novel of more than 1000 pages is either testament of the craziness of the reader, or the value of the novel. In my case, I would like to think that the second is the case.

Don Quixote is a novel I read twice because I really enjoyed it.

It is the story of a noble, although one who is not very much in demand, who embarks on a serie of adventures around Spain in the 16th century. His aim is to restore justice, but he suffers from a major difficulty in differentiating his dreams (and off course ideals) and the reality. The result is a very enjoyable book, with many adventures and I read loud more than once while reading the book.

Don Quixote is escorted by Sancho Panza, a peasant who only accepts to accompany Don Quixote because he has been promised a castle, but in the end he will grow more and more affectionate to his master, and equally addicted to their life "on the road"

The book is also a bit documentary on a society which was in the process of changing. The old ideals were being replaced by a new class of merchants, and in a way Don Quixote, is also an example of the consequences of these changes.

Surely one of the best books I have read.
