Six Easy Pieces: Fundamentals of Physics Explained - Richard ...
by jboho - written on 14/06/09 (Very useful, 16 readings)
Rating:
well known nowadays. He wrote this book for those starting an interest in physics and attempted to make it as accessible as possible. Did it work? Yes, it did. Richard Feynman is an utterly brilliant explainer. In this book he explains six fundamentals of physics: - Atoms in motion - Basic physics - The relation of physics to other sciences - Conservation of Energy - The Theory of Gravitation - Quantum Behaviour The book is a text version of six lectures he gave at the California Institute of Technology. Because of this, the tone of the book is relatively informal; this makes it much easier to read. His own diagrams are also included, which adds another, easier to ...

What Do You Care What Other People Think? - Richard P. Feynm ...

Rating:
Let Me Introduce You to Dr Richard P Feynman, Nobel Laureate and all around good guy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Richard Feynman had a remarkable life. Amongst other things, he worked on the atomic bomb, he shared the Nobel Prize for physics in 1965. Now, can anyone remember anything about his life? His life was also touched by tragedy - his first wife, Arlene, died of Tuberculosis in Albuquerque whilst Feynman was working on the Manhattan Project (as an aside - when he heard from the hospital that she was near the end, he borrowed a car - from Klaus Fuchs. The spy [of course, Feynman didn t know that at the time]). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Book - ...

Surely You're Joking, Mr.Feynman! - Richard P. Feynman

the same feel. Feynman was a man that you took him as you found him, as it were. So unlike Genius , a proper biography of Feynman, this book is not technical - it only talks about physics insofar as is necessary to illustrate an anecdote. You emphatically do NOT need to be a physicist, or indeed, have more than a bare-bones layman s knowledge of physics, to understand and hugely enjoy this book. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Basics - bare biographical details ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I could relate the bare biographical details, but instead, let Feynman himself explain: "Some facts about my timing: I was born in 1918 in a small town called Far Rockaway, right on ...
