Advantages: Your child can count the chicks and other animals
Disadvantages: None
I love reading and I have always read books to my son who now asks every bedtime for a story. Unfortunately there are no libraries near us so whenever I go shopping I keep an eye out for a book bargain! I found this book in Tesco`s and it was priced as £2.49 which I think is really good.
==Dora`s Chicks==
This is a hardback book with paper pages inside, on the the front cover is a picture of Dora and her 6 chicks.
It is nearly breakfast time and Dora`s chicks will be awake soon so she decides to go and find them some breakfast but when she gets back to the hen house she finds it empty. Where are her chicks?
Dora goes off to the farmyard and asks lots of animals if they have seen her chicks, but they are all too busy feeding and looking after their own families to notice. Eventually Dora finds 5 of them but one is still missing, where could the chick be?
As you read the story you will get to meet Penny the pig and her piglets, Doffy duck, Ringo robin, Honey horse and her foal and some other farmyard animals.
I really like the illustrations throughout the book as they are bright, colourful and are very detailed. The animals look so cute but my favourites have got to be the chicks.
==What do I think?==
We as a family really enjoy this book as my son loves farmyard animals and it also has a very good story. While we are reading the story my son likes to add up how many of the chicks have been found and how many there are left to find.
What I also like is that my son looks at the pictures and because they are so detailed he is able to tell us his own version of the story!
This is a good book I would say for ages 3 - 6 but there is quite a lot of writing which is quite small so one for an adult to read, though my son has started to pick out certain words.
Whenever we read this book my son always tells me that the chicks were naughty for going off on their own without telling their mummy, which I think is great that he is actually thinking about what has happened in the story.
