... an abundance of early learning opportunities. It is a hardback decent sized book (23 x 28 cms) only 46 pages long so quite light. Now I say 'only' 46 pages long, but that doesn't matter as each one is filled with colourful photos of kids carrying out various activities. Until I had my daughter I would have thought some of these toddler books were quite basic. It is only when you have a child that your realise that what you thought was 'basic' could be a mountain to them! The idea of the book...more

Premium Review Dorling Kindersley: It Takes 2 to interact! !!!!!!!! (694 words)

Rating:

Toddler's Book of 'Fun Things to Do'. Lots of inspiration here to keep toddlers busy, interested and amused. You want to share simple activities with your little one without it being so simple that either you or they get bored after the first couple of minutes. We all know what a child's attention span is like. You just get them interested in something which they think is wonderful, think wow! a few minutes of relaxation for me and yep! you guessed it, they want to play with something else (bit like the present and box syndrome). Well, I'm sorry but you won't get that bit of relaxation here with this book but if ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Jumbo Shaped Board Books (332 words)

Rating:

This is a fantastic book for toddlers by Dorling Kindersley a Jumbo Shaped Board Book. It is about a fire engine (shape of the book) and it's crew who are Maggie, Tom, Billy and Fixit Fran. They are the Green Watch firefighters. There are only 8 pages but with brilliant details. On one side you get a few words from the story then on the other side there is a picture. Looking at it it looks like the characters have been made out of playdough (Wallace and Gromit sort of thing) and put in a toy engine. As you turn the first page it is like they have cut the side of the engine and you can see everything from where the water tank is (starts off full of ...  Read the complete review

i have recently been to a book party hosted by a friend of mine who is a representative for Dorling Kindersley (DK)and just had to write up on the beautiful books that i have purchased for my son! WOW these have to be the most beautifully illustrated kids books i have ever seen. They are so appealing and my son has taken an instant liking to them. DK have really done their homework where toddlers are concerned! I purchased their "Touch and Feel" books which are just what the title says. There are different fabrics and materials to feel such as items found around the home, farm animals etc. Very chunky sturdy books! Also DK's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dorling Kindersley Family Learning (232 words)

I have always been very impressed with these books for children as they are of very good quality and give a very good reading experience, a pleasure that adult and child can share. I have frequently considered purchasing one for my little boy in particular the puppy touch and feel book but hesitated because of the price of £5 per book. I decided that I would wait until his birthday, until I discovered that Dorling Kindersley run a home shopping service. I was delighted to find that their Summer Bonanza offers include the Touch and Feel and Scratch & Sniff board books at 2 for £5. Also by hosting a 'book look' in my home, where I invited friends for a coffee ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dorling Kindersley  (206 words)

I am a great fan of this publisher, they seem to have done their research into what makes kids tick. I've been to a couple of DK book mornings and seen their products at various outlets, from WHSmiths to School fairs. When my children were toddlers they loved the PB Bear range, such as Where is PB Bear? (3.99) Not only does it tell a story but you also have to find a tiny toy hidden on each page. Recently we bought Carol Vordermans English and Maths activity books for Key Stage 1 (Age 5 - 6) priced at £2.99 in retail stores, available for £2 at a DK party. My son loves them.32 pages of different excercises revolving around the school curriculum, the English ...  Read the complete review
