Double Act - Jacqueline Wilson ... uncertainty that change can sometimes bring with it. This story of two little girls gradually realising that they have no real control over what is happening is both funny and poignant, but it is as the twins begin to accept that things will never be quite the same that Wilson shines, allowing her characters to grow and develop as individuals without ever losing sight of the bond that holds them together.

Premium Review A double Act (364 words)
by - written on 27/05/09 (Very useful, 37 readings)
Rating:

I'll admit that maybe there is a bit of me which is slightly embarrassed that I still find Jacqueline Wilsons books good to read, despite the fact that in the inside of the book it says they're aimed at 7-10 year olds. Sometimes however, you just have to go with it and not care. Being fed up after attempting to read an 'adult novel' which is not even worth mentioning this was my only alternative! Double Act is the story of two indentical twins, Ruby and Garnet, who have always been close despite the fact that they are both comeplete opposites when it comes to their personalities. Whilst Ruby is loud, mischevious, slightly bossy and extroverted, Garnet is ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Double Act - Jacqueline Wilson: Seeing double! (205 words)
by - written on 15/08/08 (Useful, 41 readings)
Rating:

Jacqueline Wilson is without a doubt one of my favourite childhood authors. There's something special about her style that appeals to me, and many others too. Double Act is just one of her many great books. In Double Act, twins Ruby and Garnet are identical twins. Their mother died a few years back and now their dad has a new partner. They move house too, and when an opportunity to be in a show about twins come up, they go along to the audition, one more sheepishly than the other. Things are changing around them, but will they change too? This book is aimed at children around the age of 10-12, and deals with real-life issues, as does most of ...  Read the complete review
