Jacqueline Wilson is without a doubt one of my favourite childhood authors. There's something special about her style that appeals to me, and many others too. Double Act is just one of her many great books.
In Double Act, twins Ruby and Garnet are identical twins. Their mother died a few years back and now their dad has a new partner. They move house too, and when an opportunity to be in a show about twins come up, they go along to the audition, one more sheepishly than the other. Things are changing around them, but will they change too?
This book is aimed at children around the age of 10-12, and deals with real-life issues, as does most of Jacqueline Wilson's books. Nonetheless, I still enjoy this, as it makes a fantastic light read for all! It's good for taking on holiday or such like as it does not require much thinking to work out the main story, though I did find the ending is not as expected.
This has an RRP of £4.99, but if you look when the time is right, you are almost guaranteed to find it cheaper on amazon.co.uk or eBay!
