If you have read my Top Ten Reads then you will know that one of my favourite books of all time is "We Need to Talk About Kevin." I couldn't stop thinking about it for a while after such is the impact it had on me. It was a massive disappointment when I read Shriver's second novel, "Double Fault " as all of the worst aspects of "We Need To Talk About Kevin " (Shriver tends to waffle on about something for pages at a time, and instead of being interesting I always found myself skimming them to get back to the story) were present but ten times worse and the story just didn't live up to the excitement of her first. I have to say that I absolutely hated ...

We need to talk about Kevin written by Lionel Shriver* is wonderful and controversial book which was published in 2003 and which subsequently won the Orange Prize for fiction in 2005, a prize a feel in deserves. The book tells the story of Kevin Katchadourian, told from the perspective of his mother Eva and set in American. The book presents a series of letters written by Eva to Kevin s father and her husband, Franklin, in which she gradually tells the tale which leads towards the dreadful day in which Kevin did what he did. Just before his 16th birthday Kevin killed a select group of his classmates in school. You see then why this is such a controversial and brave ...
