Advantages: really good book
Disadvantages: rubbish cover!
I got this book from a website called BookCrossing.com, it was introduced to me from a reviewer, as I rated that person's review, and I was really interested with the website. So I signed up and got on my way, but I didn't like it so much and then Mallary came on and offered to send me this book and how could I have refused. But, however, when I got it in the post I was afraid that I'd get totally bored with the book, based on the fact that the cover looks really boring (well the cover that I have in front of me, not the one that is shown), and also it is dated 1983 (10 years before I was born) so I did have my doubts!
Colin Forbes died in 2006, which is a shame, as I've only just known about him as an author. He's real name is Raymond Harold Sawkins, but released many books under different names. Colin Forbes is most famous for his long-running series of thrillers that included Tweed and Co. This was the first book he wrote about Tweed and Co. However it isn't in a series in which you have to read them in order, as it doesn't have any link to each book!
This is the first book Colin Forbes Published under Tweed and Co. and I'm pretty sure that there is no series, as this book just pushed you right into it and you knew nothing about the character but you felt as if you were their friend IMMEDIATELY!
The book is about the top four western leaders who are to meet the Soviet premier in Vienna. Problem is, is that they don't like flying so train it is to be. The big problem is, is that a English secret agent has just been killed on the lake, and now Martel has to step in and find out who killed the secret agent, while also protecting the four western leaders! There's another problem as well, and that is, the people doing the murder, is also looking for a way to kill one of the four western leaders, and Martel only has 1 week to work everything out, is there enough time?
As you can tell I really did enjoy this book, I have given it 4 stars, but if I were able to it would be 4 and a half stars. The book is really, really good, and I feel that it does deserve 5 stars, however, I have noted it down half a star for the cover, because if you went into a book shop and saw this, you wouldn't even look at it never mind reading it!
The person on BookCrossing.com has recently sent me some more Colin Forbes books, that sound really interesting, but again the covers let them down. I am really looking forward to reading them, and I promise I will review them too
Thank you so much for reading and thank you all for rating and commenting it is very appreciated!
I feel like this review is a bit short, compared to my others, maybe I've just lost the knack of writing them as I've been inactive for about 1 month, so I would very much appreciate comments on how to get the knack back, if that makes sense!
