Perhaps the only great comedy thriller to set around the world of championship bass fishing, Carl Hiaasen's 'Double Whammy' is a completely mental thriller, featuring the hapless private eye RJ Decker, still desperately in love with his ex-wife, a bunch of seriously insane sports fishermen, and a corrupt politician. All the usual Hiaasen elements are all present and correct - violence, satire, endless slapstick gags - though the ecological concerns which have come to dominate his novels are not as forcefully asserted here.
