 ... the characters seemed to grow from the pages. I've always loved how real the characters of her book become and this was no exception; though the book was perhaps a little short to really allow them room to grow and change - not really a valid criticism perhaps as I believe this is the first of two. The story was a great idea and needed to be told - I'm sure I'm not the only reader who has longed for this very book to be written! As a huge fan of Robin Hobb I was waiting with a great deal of anticipation for this book to finally be released. After her last three books, which were something totally new to me in fantasy and perhaps not as good, this was a welcome return to a world which was already familier to me. Briefly, the story picks up where the Liveship Trader books left off as we witness the beginnings of a new generation of dragons as young hatchlings begin to emerge on the banks of the Rain Wild river.
