Premium Review Dragonlance Series in general: Middle earth its not but its still decent (830 words)

The Dragonlance series are a compendium of the three Dragons of... books, they cover the dragons of autumn twilight, winter night and spring dawning books along with the other major work in the series The War of the Twins they are written by two american authors Margeret Weis and Tracy Hickman. The two major trilogies have been franchised out so that there are now over 100 spin off novels using the characters found in the two main series. The chronicles are a set of books which are similar in content to LOTR but the writing quality is of a a lesser standard compared with the great mans work. The stories are classic game play fantast fare, there is a group of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review DragonLance - the world I wanna be in. (181 words)

I never really read much litterature from the fantasy genre, but when a friend of mine gave me "DragonLance Legends" and said "Read this" I thought OK, I'll give it a chance. Am I happy I did that - the world of Krynn is absolutely fantastic. Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis have conjured a universe that leaves one wishing one could be there. The tree town of Solace, the plains in the North, the elves in Qualinesti - I could go on. But it doesn't stop here; the characters are also absolutely fantastic - Raistlin Majere, the frail mage, his twin Caramon, their friends Tanis, Flint, Sturm and Kitiara. Oh and last but not least Tasslehoff Burrfoot ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dragonlance Series in general: Debauchery and Dragons (588 words)

Note: This review is confined to the original trilogy, ‘Dragonlance Chronicles’ by Tracy Weis and Margaret Hickman. I’m hoping to get a couple of the other trilogies added to the section, because there are at least five or six which certainly deserve in depth reviews. The three books which make up this trilogy, ‘Dragons of Autumn Twilight’, ‘Dragons of Winter Night’, and ‘Dragons of Spring Dawning’, are among the best works of fantasy ever written, in my opinion. Set in the land of Krynn, a fairly standard fantasy world (with elves, dwarves, gnomes, and, as the title suggests, dragons), the books tell of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Knights are all gone, and the Dragon's are dead.. (911 words)

Being an English student I spent a lot of time cooped up with books. Not to say that I don't study anymore, ee' gods, do I study and ove those books. mmmhmmm! But like I said, Books are a primary part of my life. I spend time worshipping the little bleeders.. but Fantasy books are paramount to all others in my view. When lovelorn and hormonal girls spend their time reading Catherine Cookson's books, I'm there with a meaty fantasy, biting into it and loving the richness of the story. Spotty teenagers off with their horor/real life stories, I'm cheering on the proud knights, wrapped up in magic and walking the same roads that the characters do. ...  Read the complete review

Dragonlance Series in general: A Magical Masterpiece (776 words)

I was introduced to Dragonlance by my boyfriend who is an amazing reader, from Stephen King to fantasy novels. So what I also like, is when he tells me stories. Anyway, He was telling me about this story from the Dragonlance series and I instantly fell in love with it. However, he told me there were like undreds of books in the series and then I thought...NOOOOO! Because there is nothing worse when you read a book and realise you will have to read every book in the series to grasp the whole story. This isn't completely true. The only problem with Dragonlance is the fact that there ARE so many books that you really don't know where to start and what books ...  Read the complete review
