Dragonsong - Anne McCaffrey

When you read Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series, she recommends Dragonsong to be the third one you read. It's timeline actually coincides with the second book, Dragonquest, so the events you read about are taking place simultaneously with what you have already read in Dragonquest.
