Darkness, Tell Us - Richard Laymon
by Feefo - written on 19/02/02 (Useful, 53 readings)
Rating:
This was my first journey into the mind of Mr. Laymon. I read it during the summer (probably less creepy than winter!). I don't remember how I acquired it now but I know that I developed a 'taste' for his books after that one. Funnily enough it actually remains my favourite one. Since then I have bought tons of them e.g. The Stake, The Cellar, Quake etc. I think reading the same author too often is not a good idea - you get too used to their format and style. This book begins with a group of friends whose teacher (don't ask) gets out the old Ouija board. Set in America, as are all his books, this evening’s party produces a Ouija message which leads to ...

Darkness, Tell Us - Richard Laymon
by SWSt - written on 18/09/08 (Very useful, 77 readings)
Rating:
From my perspective, Richard Laymon was one of those horror authors that passed me by. Although I ve read a couple of his books, I ve never consistently read him as an author. I ve enjoyed the ones I ve read, without ever feeling the urge to rush out and read his others. Will Darkness, Tell Us change that? What makes Darkness so instantly attractive is that it has a very simple set-up. A group of 6 students consult a Ouija board which promises them great riches if they go into the wild to find it. Worried about them, their tutor follows and they all end up in big trouble... That s it. That s yer lot! As plots go, you don t get much simpler. Some people might criticise ...

One Rainy Night - Richard Laymon
by philsammie - written on 15/07/00 (Very useful, 25 readings)
Rating:
One Rainy Night is fast paced, non stop action all the way. It's the story of a night when rain falls, turning everyone it touches into a crazed killer! The entire novel covers a period of just a few hours - there's no gentle introduction or setting of scene, the violent action is relentless. Just as with Flesh, I've always thought One ...
