This wonderful kids book features a duck who just wants to play in the mud. While it is a really good tale, the book is made by the extremely active illustrations from Guy Parker-Rees. Richard Waring is the author of the book. It is a large book, with a vibrant blue cover and a picture of a scraggy duck. This is Ducky. As you open the cover, even the first couple of pages have some drawings on them. In the bottom corner of a page that would otherwise be blank, there is a small picture of Ducky in some mud. This book is all about a little baby duck who wants nothing more than to dive in the mud, but whose mum is always stopping him. One day, he sneaks off to do it, but his mum charges in to stop him. She slips and lands in the mud herself, and then they both end up playing in there all day. The best thing about this book is the stunning illustrations. They're actually unique in that they're done in an odd way. I think (if art class memory serves me right) that they're done by floating ink over water then lying the paper on it.
