Dick King-Smith has written a number of very successful stories for children, the most successful of which is probably The Sheep Pig, which was later, made into the film Babe. I have always thought that his children's stories are very good, and now that my daughter is in Year 1 and has just taken off with her reading, I was very interested to discover that he has written a number of books in the First Young Puffin series. These are real stories aimed at younger children who are just beginning reading. Dumpling is one of the books in this series.
