'Each peach, pear, plum, I spy Tom Thumb...'
So starts Each Peach Pear Plum, a lovely rhyming kid's picture books with the most beautifully detailed pictures. Each page has a new character that must be found - first Tom Thumb, then other fairytale characters like the three bears, Cinderella or Baby Bunting. Think of it as a very small child's Where's Wally - while the characters are easy enough to find that even the youngest kids shouldn't get frustrated, there's lots of triumph to be had in letting them point them out. I like to, that the characters that they incorporate are so easily recognised from fairytale and nursery rhyme, so children recognise the characters that they're looking for.
Amazon has a choice between paperback and board book, both for under £4, so even the tiniest child isn't at risk of killing the book by chewing it to death. However, I'd recommend it for maybe two or three years at the youngest, although as they get older kids might enjoy reading it to themselves as much as having it read to them.
Summary: Every child should have a copy
