Each peach pear plum is a peachy book written by Alan Alhberg with his wife Janet doing the illustrations published in1989 by puffin books and later edition by Viking books.

This is an eye spy book it has 32 pages the price is £4.99 but it can be bought cheaper (I am keeping a watch out for it in he charity shop)
It is available as a board book and as a paperback

Each peach pear plum has a rhythm to the words it is poetical. And it has won a Kate greenway medal.
Alan says in an interview it took him a day to write and 6 months for Janet to illustrate

This book is suitable for children between 3 and 7 or 8.
On one page there is a little poem on the opposite side is a nursery rhyme character is hidden for example each peach pear plum I spy tom thumb and looking carefully on the opposite page there is tom thumb hidden. And on one page can you see the three bears peeping out of the window? The last page all the characters are there having a picnic on plum pie.
The illustrations in this book are gorgeous they are colourful and well detailed Although your child may not recognise all the nursery rhyme characters you can help them spot them..
I would recommend this as a read with child book as a one to one experience not a book to read to a group. It is for maybe a three year old sat on your knee listening to the rhyhm of the words as you say them and helping you find the characters who are hiding in the picture. Get into the habit of reading to and with your child from an early age. I find after lunch and before bed good times to read with your child at home Reading with your child is not only good for them educationally but is a good bonding time between parent and child and this book with its lovely pictures and the activity of finding the hiding characters is ideal.

Happy reading Mary
