Advantages: A good book with an excellent story line

Disadvantages: None

Eat Your Dinner is a great book by Virginia Miller, my son was given this by a member of the family and up until recently was something that was a favourite bed time story for him but my daughter has now inherited it from him.

^~^~^~^ Who is Virginia Miller? ^~^~^~^

Virginia Miller was born in 1951 in Buckinghamshire and has won many awards over the years for her work and illustrations.

^~^~^~^ The Story ^~^~^~^

The story involves Bartholomew and his carer George and is all about table manners; Bartholomew is being given his dinner by George and it is put on the table for him but this little bear has other ideas with regard to eating and George tries a variety of different ways to tempt him to eat. In the end George gets a nice cake and puts it on the table and takes a slice and eats it and then takes the cake away, all the time when Bartholomew is sat at the table; this encourages the little bear to try his dinner and he then finds that he likes the food and as a reward George gives him a slice of cake to eat.

^~^~^~^ What do I think? ^~^~^~^

This is a wonderful board book with lots of great illustrations to tell the story. As with most books like this, a younger child isn't fussed about reading the story, they are more interested in looking at the pictures and having the story told to them.

My son who is a bit too big for a book like this still adores this book and when I read it to his sister he often sits next to me and helps me read it to her, encouraging her to shout 'Eat Your Dinner'.

I should add that this book is self-illustrated, which basically means that she is the one who not only wrote the book but also illustrated it.

^~^~^~^ Other Titles Available ^~^~^~^

Virginia Miller has produced several other books including:
'On Your Potty'
'Go To Bed'
'Say Please'

^~^~^~^ Price and Availability ^~^~^~^

This book was purchased for my son for 50p from the Charity Shop (it still has the sticker on the front) but to buy it new would cost £3.99. I am sure though that you would be able to obtain this book from the library and Amazon.

It is printed by Walker Books

Sounds lovely if you need to encourage little ones to eat up. My little grand cchildren don't need any encouragement, They might enjoy the story.
