Advantages: Interesting subject

Disadvantages: Prefered the tattoos on paper to on flesh!

Having little knowledge of the tattoo scene, but an art enthusiast in general I was interested to see what this book could offer. The book is a small, approximately A5 coffee table book. The book is mostly devoted to pictures, with only brief inserts of text. It's not a book to sit and read through at length, but flick through while waiting for something else to happen.

I found that many of the drawings to become designs for tattoos were skillfully done, however I felt that actually rendering them as tattoos cheapened the artwork. The designs were largely very traditional (in terms of tattoos!), lots of roses and dragons, and did not spark my imagination. There were some very fine line drawings, however they seemed clumsy when done in the flesh. While I found this book an interesting diversion, it is not one I would return to, or reccomend to anyone other than those with an avid interest in the tattoo scene.
