Advantages: Comics at there best
Disadvantages: Only out once a year...
Eight ball is a 32-48 page comic written and drawn by Daniel Clowes- it has been going for good few years now and is currently being published- at the speed of about one copy a year! The stories have changed over the years with longer stories that have now been collected into graphic novels- such as Ghostworld, Like avelvet glove cas in iron and David Boring. Eightball is one of my favourite comics- mainly because of the great art which is really clean intricate stuff- that often picks out the most grotesque features of the human form! The stories that are longer- usually betray a very cinematic feel- they feel like the best film you ever saw- but by the last installment, things will have twisted far more than boring hollywood would ever dare... There are also the shorter scripts- which are like a far more twisted version of Mad magazine- the humour that you adore or just dont get. Back issues are available in good comic shops but most of the strips have been reprinted in novels just check for Clowes for the best stuff in comics today! Technichal details: These book are most likely to be found in your local comic shops, sadly unavailable- in your average newsagent, plus release dates of new editions are unfortunatly random but most good waterstones have the "colections" such as Ghostworld orgy bound and david Boring there is also amazon.co.uk which has most of Clowes' stuff

spacelamb - 15/02/01 Sorry unclear - I meant, I know you can get back copies at comic stores, but do regular newsagents stock it when it's released (or can it be ordered)? |
