He has imaginary conversations with them all which are very convincing; he knows exactly what a cat would say if it could talk. He highlights the disdain and impatience a cat can feel for what it considers its inferior owner and the conversations run from the very important to the completely trivial. The love the author and his wife feel for these animals is genuine and heartfelt; when the cats are ill they are treated with great resp...more

'Enough to Make a Cat Laugh' by Deric Longden is one of the funniest most uplifting books I have ever read. Its author has obviously shared his life with cats and has a perfect understanding of them. The book is set in the home Deric shares with his blind wife Aileen who can often be witnessed stroking a cardigan in the mistaken belief that it is one of the household cats. The four cats who also inhabit this home are Thermal, Frink, Tigger and the ageing Arthur; each has an individual personality which Deric illustrates with great insight. He has imaginary conversations with them all which are very convincing; he knows exactly what a cat would say if it could ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Enough to Make a Cat Laugh - Deric Longden

Absolutely brilliant. I chuckled from start to finish (except the couple of sad bits where Frink and Arthur die). The story is touching, clever and totally hilarious, as are Deric's other books. I have read them all and love them. Tinkers Mum.
