This book starts right at the beginning of analytical chemistry, and works its way through chemical techniques, starting with basic wet chemistry (such as titrations) and progressing onto the more sophisticated techniques of spectroscopy. Along the way it explains everything in a down to earth manor, and isn't cluttered with too many diagrams (which in some other books has been a problem). Instead it has diagrams when needed and the complement the text. The first half of the book deals with analytical chemistry in general, the second half concentrates on analytical chemistry with respect to environmental aspects.
