Advantages: more Pratchett to satiate Discworld fans

Disadvantages: not as good as later novels

Most discworld fans end up reading all the books, just for a sense of completeness. This one is not outstanding - it feels like an earlier novel than the excellent Wyrd Sisters, with thin characterisation and fewer funny jokes. However, it's fine unless you read it after the latest novels featuring the witches, such as Carpe Jugulum. If you have read this, Equal Rites will just annoy you. If you are desperate to read them all then go ahead, but try to read this first.
