Another Rincwind book. (Eric - Terry Pratchett)

As you can probably tell if you take a look at my written opinion list I am a big Discworld fan (big in fanness not in size). I particularly like the Rincewind sunseries and so this book is even more of a disappointment than it may have been otherwise. This is one of the more disappointing entries into the Discworld series. It stars yet again Rincewind the inept Wizard. This time he has been summoned up as a demon and if you want to know how that is possible well you’ll just have to read Sourcery. Eric is a variation on the Faust story and maybe I didn’t enjoy this book as much as others as I’m not very familiar with Faust. Rincewind ends up flying back and forth through time and space and gets into all sorts of trouble. The luggage also returns and he is one of the funniest characters in all of Discworld (half legs, half travelling trunk, 100% psychopath). This still doesn’t save the book. If I was trying to get someone to read the Discworld books I wouldn’t recommend this one but you really have to read it if you want the whole of the Discworld Story. It is still a goods book but not up to the usual high standards of Discworld. Summary: |
