Not quite his best (Eric - Terry Pratchett)

Advantages: standard pratchett fare

Disadvantages: lacking something

When I first bought this book I got version with the intensive graphics in it, which is treat in itself and I can remember thinking "Hooray, Rincewind is back." He has always been one of my favorite characters and I was really chuffed to see him return.

But this book really did not cut it for me, do not get me wrong - it is still Terry Pratchett doing what he does best, but the real characher life did not seem to be there this time.

The sotry line is great but it is an old story re-told his way - something that he has become fonder of doing over more recent years. A true sign that he is running out of ideas, much as I enjoy the books part of me still wishes that he had stopped a few back.

But still a boy summons a demon and gets Rincewind instead - well I would be pretty dissapointed too, but hte demons are playing around and they embark on a journey through time and space granting the boys wishes.

Good book - drawings by Josh Kirby were a definite treat if you can get the illustyrated version.
