Zombie is the penultimate novel penned under the original team of Canadian Lawyers who wrote under the name of Michael Slade. The next book in the series would be the last written by the original line-up and the pseudonym would then pass onto one of the remaining Lawyers and his daughter. This, some argue, is when the Special X series began to decline in quality and become a mere shadow of it's former self. Though the novels continued to follow the same set of characters, any future books would never have the same appeal as those that made up the early series.
